Painting and Weavings

Artist Statement
After fighting the urge to be an artist, I finally gave up and went full time into weaving! I have a degree in Horticulture and find that my 25 years of designing, planting and maintaining gardens has influenced my work. I love color, nuances of tones and hues, playing with textures and the feel of silkiness. Cotton, rayon and silk seem to be the fibers I enjoy working with the most.
I began weaving 27 years ago in St. Louis - did it part time in the winters. Living here by the Chama River suits me as the greenery is lush and gardening around my house is still possible.
I sell my work at art shows in New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado for about 10 months of the year and then I load my cats, cat food, and my paints into my car and head down to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where I paint for 2 months in pure bliss - I have been going there for several years now and have great teachers in oil, acrylic and watercolor - not to mention the sun, cascading flowers, wonderful friends and the fabulous food.
