Mary Helen’s quilts

For many years, I used watercolors to emulate the color and texture of softly-draped fabrics on paper and that fascination with fabrics, combined with a long family history of quiltmakers is what led me to take up quilting. It has evolved from an interest, into a passion. One quilt design leads, inevitably, to ten more and on to a progression of ideas, which promises that there will never be enough time to do all that I want to do.

Whether sewing by hand or machine, doing appliqué, piecing, or quilting, designing new quilts or limiting my creative input to the selection of fabrics for traditional quilt patterns, it is ALL joyful to me, and I hope that this joy is transmitted in my work.
