Tito Lopez

Tito Lopez was born June 8, 1928 and passed away August 6, 2005. At 77, Tito is remembered as a very good friend and a very generous man. Tito would always help local Abiquiu folks with anything requested or needed. Very willing to share his culture and traditions with everyone, Tito is greatly missed.

Raised in the mountains near Abiquiu from a family of twelve, Tito was the youngest. As a self made artist, Tito drew pictures of animals, trees, mountains and portraits of his brothers and sisters even as a little boy.

In 1970 silver was booming, and it came into Tito's mind that he could create silver jewelry without any lessons.

"So I started making myself a ring- ruining silver and burning it - I've learned many techniques on my own for the past thirty years. Ever since my first creation, I’ve been at it every day."
