Become aN ARTIST MembeR!

Let your artistic soul find its sanctuary amidst a tapestry of inspiration, collaborative spirit, and limitless creativity!

Discover the allure of the Abiquiú Studio Tour, a captivating two-day, self-guided driving tour of local artist studios, businesses, and galleries through the enchanting landscapes of Abiquiú, New Mexico. Produced by the Abiquiú Arts Council 501(c)(3), this annual celebration of art and culture promises to enrich your creative journey while leaving a lasting impact on the community and drawing art enthusiasts from near and far.

As a new member artist, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your talent during this renowned tour. The Abiquiú Studio Tour typically takes place in October. Entries are considered for those whose studios/businesses/galleries are within the tour boundaries. Artists who live in Abiquiú but are outside of the boundaries may sign up to show at a host location within the boundaries.

Joining the studio tour as a member artist means more than just participation—it means becoming part of a passionate community dedicated to nurturing creativity and fostering a vibrant arts culture. As a member, your commitment to contributing volunteer hours ensures the sustainability and growth of this iconic event, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.

But that’s not all—the Abiquiú Arts Council (AAC) goes beyond the tour, dedicating itself to art education initiatives and curating vibrant art events throughout Abiquiú. Since the start of the Abiquiú Studio Tour in 1994, it has been the sole event produced by the AAC. In 2024, the Board is excited to introduce a spectacular new mercado event, the Abiquiú Gathering of Artisans, featuring juried artists from across Rio Arriba County, NM. This addition promises to elevate the artistic experience and showcase the rich tapestry of talent within the region. Stay tuned for more information. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE ABIQUIÚ STUDIO TOUR:

Boundaries

Since Abiquiú is a very expansive area, the AAC has set geographic boundary limits within Abiquiú. Artists whose studios are within the boundaries are eligible to participate in the Abiquiú Studio Tour. Artists outside of the boundaries are eligible to participate by arranging to exhibit their work at a studio that is within the boundaries OR at one of the larger host spaces provided by the AAC, with assistance from the Membership/Participants Coordinator. To learn if your property is within the boundaries, please contact the Abiquiú Arts Council.

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteerism ensures the success of the AST. It contributes to its sustainability, strengthens the fabric of the community and fosters a vibrant arts culture for years to come. For participants, the most important responsibility is to commit to a minimum of 10 volunteer hours. Read about all of the positions required to make the studio tour happen every year: CLICK HERE FOR VOLUNTEER INFO.

Membership Meetings

Abiquiú Studio Tour participants are required to attend annual meetings regarding the tour. This is an essential part of this cooperative effort. Meetings are always announced at least 3 weeks in advance. One of our most important meetings is around late winter and/or springtime.

Registration & Fees

The fees to participate in any event produced by the Abiquiú Arts Council are determined by the AAC Board of Directors each year and announced at our annual members meeting.

Artist Promotion

Abiquiú Studio Tour participants will receive publicity via social media, their own section on our website, and a listing on the studio tour event map, and other collateral.
